Olimpia Milano achieved a significant victory in the 31st round of the EuroLeague by defeating Maccabi Tel Aviv 96-87 on their home court.
Josh Nebo was outstanding for the winning team with 19 points and ten rebounds, Shavon Shields scored 17, while Zach LeDay added 15.
On the other side, Lonnie Walker returned to the EuroLeague games and finished the match with 16 points. Gur Lavy scored 25, and Roman Sorkin and Jimmy Clark added 13 each.
Maccabi started the match well in Italy, and midway through the second quarter, the Israelis had a four-point lead (28-32).
Maccabi threatened in the continuation, managing several times to reduce the deficit, eventually closing in at 92-87, but the hosts hit four free throws and closed out the match.
Olimpia thus secured a crucial victory and is now in 11th place with a record of 16-15, just one win away from the play-in zone. On the other hand, Maccabi has a record of 14-16, but the problem for them moving forward could be the fact that they lost both times to Milano, a direct competitor for advancement. In the next round, Olimpia visits Fenerbahce, while Maccabi will face ASVEL away.
