Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv enters a critical stretch of the 2025-26 schedule facing significant roster challenges, as the club provides official updates on the recovery of guard Gabriel Iffe Lundberg and a fresh injury setback for forward Gur Lavy.
The primary focus remains on Lundberg, who is currently sidelined with an Achilles tendon injury. The 31-year-old veteran has officially moved into the next phase of his rehabilitation, beginning individual ball-handling drills while focusing on strengthening his leg. While the progress is encouraging, the updated timeline suggests a gradual return over the next two to three weeks.
This trajectory makes it highly unlikely that the Danish guard will return before the conclusion of the EuroLeague Regular Season. Losing Lundberg is a tactical blow for head coach Oded Kattash, as the guard has been a steady presence with averages of 11.0 points and 3.6 assists across 16 appearances this season.
Compounding the backcourt absence is a new injury to Lavy. The 25-year-old forward has been diagnosed with a torn meniscus and was ruled out for yesterday’s Round 34 matchup against Dubai. Lavy, who has appeared in 15 EuroLeague games during his debut campaign, will undergo further evaluation to determine if surgery is required and to establish a definitive recovery window.
Currently sitting at a 17-16 record, the Yellows are just two games shy of the Play-In Showdown zone with only five games remaining. With T.J. Leaf already ruled out for the season following shoulder surgery, 51-year-old Kattash must navigate a thinning rotation. The team will need to maximize its available depth to secure a postseason berth before the Winner League Regular Season in Israel resumes on April 18.
