Nedović: “Leaving Panathinaikos one of my biggest mistakes”

Nemanja Nedović returned to OAKA Arena, this time as a Monaco player, and reflected on his spell with Panathinaikos following a 101–97 loss to the Greek side, in which he scored 15 points.

The Serbian guard played for Panathinaikos from 2020 to 2022, winning the Greek League, Cup and Super Cup in 2021.

It’s always special to play here. I love it and it feels natural to me. I only have good memories from my two years at Panathinaikos. Looking back, I would say that leaving was one of my biggest mistakes, seeing what the team is like now, with the fans having returned to the arena. Back then, things were different, but it’s always a pleasure to come back and the crowd, as always, welcomed me warmly,” Nedović told Eurohoops.

After his stint in Athens, Nedović returned to his boyhood club Crvena Zvezda, where he spent the next three years before joining Monaco last summer.

It would definitely have been better to play for Panathinaikos with a more competitive roster. When I signed for my second season, I hoped the situation would improve, and that was one of the reasons I stayed. It didn’t happen, and I didn’t feel certain about how things would develop. I’ll say it again — if I knew then what I know now, who knows what might have happened…
