Valencia secured a victory in the 35th round of the EuroLeague by defeating Virtus in Bologna with a score of 98-84.
Nathan Reuvers was impressive in Italy, scoring 33 points (7/8 for two, 5/5 for three) in just 21 minutes on the court, which, along with his 10 rebounds, earned him 44 index points and undoubtedly the MVP award for this round.
Alongside him, the only other player in double figures for the winning team was Brancou Badio with 15 points.
For Virtus, which was unsuccessfully led for the second time in a row by Serbian coach Nenad Jakovljevic, Carsen Edwards exploded with 26 points, but lacked support from teammates, as only Saliou Niang with 12 and Derrick Alston Jr. with 10 reached double figures.
Valencia played another excellent match and continued their ascent towards the top of the EuroLeague, now just one win away from Fenerbahce and Olympiacos, who share the top spot. The absolute hero was Reuvers, who was scoring from all over the court. Valencia held the lead for most of the game, with Virtus closing the gap on several occasions, but the naturalized Hungarian national team player always had a response, securing another EuroLeague victory for the Spaniards.
Valencia is now tied for third place in the elite with a record of 22-13, and in the next round, they will host Olimpia Milano. On the other hand, Virtus is in the 17th position with a record of 13-22, and the next round brings them a home game against Bayern.
