Not long ago, Fenerbahce was leading the EuroLeague and piling up wins. Now, the defending champions are in danger of losing home-court advantage in the Playoffs.
Sarunas Jasikevicius’ side fell to Real Madrid at home, 74–69, suffering a second defeat to Los Blancos this season, who have now moved ahead in the standings despite sharing a 23–14 record.
Real Madrid has climbed to third place and could move up to second by the end of Round 37. After losing both head-to-head matchups with Los Blancos, Fenerbahce has dropped to fourth and now risks being overtaken by Hapoel, which sits at 22–14 with the tie-break advantage.
Facundo Campazzo led Real Madrid with 15 points, while Walter Tavares and Nigel Williams-Goss added 12 each. Mario Hezonja contributed nine points.
For Fenerbahce, Brandon Boston delivered one of his best EuroLeague performances with 21 points. Nicolo Melli followed with 15, while Talen Horton-Tucker added 11 and Wade Baldwin scored 10.
Real Madrid led at halftime after turning things around in the second quarter, but Fenerbahce responded strongly and regained control, entering the final 10 minutes with a 58–54 lead. However, it wasn’t enough, as Real Madrid pushed back, took the lead again, and sealed an important victory with a crucial three-pointer from Mario Hezonja in the final minute.
