Zalgiris Kaunas is looking to bring Jonas Valanciunas, currently a member of the Denver Nuggets, into their ranks.

According to Lithuanian journalist Jonas Lekšas, Zalgiris is offering Jonas a two-year contract, with a salary of 2 million euros for the first season, and things are currently moving in a positive direction.

“Zalgiris is offering Valanciunas a guaranteed two-year contract with an option to extend it. The salary for the first season is €2 million and, according to my sources, the discussions are progressing positively.”

Valanciunas started his career with Zalgiris’ biggest rival Lietuvos Rytas, where he played until 2012. After that, he moved to the NBA, where he spent seven years with the Toronto Raptors. He has also played for the Memphis Grizzlies, New Orleans Pelicans, Washington Wizards, and Sacramento Kings.

Last season, he wore the Denver Nuggets jersey, and their playoff run ended with a loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round (4-2).

As for Zalgiris, they are currently playing in the EuroLeague quarterfinals, where they are down 2-0 in the series against Fenerbahce.
