Anadolu Efes could be heading toward a change on the bench next season, and that shift may come with a Greek influence. According to Eurohoops sources, the Turkish club is considering two main candidates to take over: Vassilis Spanoulis and Giannis Sfairopoulos.
Sfairopoulos, who started the season coaching Crvena Zvezda, is already engaged in meaningful talks with the club, putting him slightly ahead in the race for the position. Spanoulis, meanwhile, remains a strong alternative as he continues to build his coaching career following an illustrious playing tenure.
This potential change comes at a challenging moment for the Istanbul-based side. Currently coached by Pablo Laso, who is under contract until 2027, the team endured a disappointing campaign in the EuroLeague, finishing second to last with a 12–26 record.
Domestically, the picture is somewhat more stable, though still below the club’s usual ambitions. In the Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL), Anadolu Efes currently sits fifth in the standings with a 19–10 record.
