Euroleague Basketball and Greek League unite to discuss future collaboration

Euroleague Basketball and Greece’s Stoiximan GBL executives convened in Barcelona to forge a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing commercial value and market reach.

Thursday’s meeting marked Greece’s historic basketball influence, focusing on collaborative innovation to strengthen the sport’s international appeal and support the sustainable growth of elite clubs and their passionate continental fanbases.

Per the press release: “On Thursday, May 7, Greek Basketball League President, Mr. Michalis Melis, and General Manager, Mr. Efthimios Rentzias visited the Euroleague Basketball Headquarters in Barcelona meeting with Chief Executive Officer Chus Bueno and senior executives.

The discussions also explored ways to elevate the overall European basketball product through stronger market engagement, expanded commercial initiatives collaboration, and continued investment in competitive excellence. Particular focus was placed on creating long-term opportunities that support clubs, fans, and stakeholders while reinforcing the international appeal of the competitions.

The meeting highlighted the strategic importance of Greece within the European basketball landscape, recognizing the country’s deep basketball heritage, passionate fanbase, and continued presence at the highest levels of international club competition. Special attention was given to the role of leading Greek clubs, including EuroLeague powerhouses Olympiacos Piraeus and Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens, as well as Aris Thessaloniki Betsson. and Panionios Cosmorama Travel Athens competing in the BKT EuroCup, underlining Greece’s significant contribution to the growth and visibility of European basketball.

Both parties expressed their intention to continue working closely together through regular dialogue and collaborative planning. The meeting concluded with a shared vision of building a forward-looking relationship focused on innovation, sustainable development, and the continued advancement of European basketball at all levels.”
