Euroleague Basketball chief executive officer Chus Bueno welcomed Berni Alvarez, Catalonia’s sports minister, to strengthen ties and discuss the strategic growth and social impact of basketball in the region and Europe.

Per the press release: “Berni Alvarez, Sports Minister of the Generalitat of Catalonia, visited the Euroleague Basketball headquarters in Barcelona today, where he held a meeting with Euroleague Basketball CEO Chus Bueno.
The meeting served as an opportunity to strengthen institutional relations and discuss the continued growth and international impact of basketball in Catalonia and across Europe. During the visit, both parties exchanged views on the strategic role of sport as a driver of social development, innovation, and international visibility.”
Meanwhile, the 2025-26 edition of Europe’s premier club competition has reached the 2026 EuroLeague Final Four Athens, presented by Etihad, following a 20-team round-robin field in the Regular Season, the Play-In Showdown, and the exciting best-of-five series in the Playoffs.
Top-seeded Olympiacos and defending champion Fenerbahce Beko, alongside ACB powerhouses Real Madrid and Valencia on the opposite side of the bracket, are set to battle in single-elimination Semifinals at the Telekom Center Athens on Friday, May 22. The Final follows on Sunday, May 24.
The participants based in the Greek and Spanish capitals further cement their elite status by making their 14th Final Four appearance, while Fener clinches its seventh semifinal showcase. In stark contrast, underdog Valencia celebrates a monumental milestone, breaking into the championship weekend for the very first time.
