Olympiacos Piraeus forward Alec Peters delivered an impeccable shooting performance in the semifinal win over Fenerbahce Beko with a team-high 17 points on 7 out of 7 from the field.
It’s the kind of display that can also act as an additional confidence boost ahead of the championship game against Real Madrid. For Peters though, it doesn’t mean much the Final will be an entirely different challenge completely.
“It gives you nothing,” Peters said. “It’s a new game. I came out here and I didn’t make as many as shots as I wanted to today in practice. It’s a new day, a new game. I hope we make all of our shots tomorrow. That would be great.”
While Peters is looking forward to is for his team to build on that well-focused, defensive game vs. Fener and raise the level even more during the Sunday’s battle for the EuroLeague crown.
“You saw the first opening minutes of the semifinal,” Peters mentioned. “It was difficult for both teams to get into of rhythm Going to tomorrow’s game, you already got that feel for the court, maybe feel for the atmosphere. Everything, from the basketballs to the hoops. You’ve seen it once. You just come back out tomorrow as a continuation for last night’s game.”
Peters wants to celebrate winning his second EuroLeague championship together with his family, including his little daughter, Ava.
Ava is 2 years old but already knows some Olympiacos chants and can sing one that involves her father pretty well.
“She sings that at home actually sometimes. It’s so funny. I don’t know if she’s put together quite yet. I think she hears it in the stadium and she kind of repeats it. Sometimes we ask her who is that and she doesn’t quite put it together that it’s me. That’s the fun part.
“She’s the greatest little fan in the world,” Peters added. “She’s the best. She sings all day long. I’m incredibly blessed to be her father. She’s going to be here tomorrow and what a joy would it be if we can get it done with her, my wife and my family here.”
