Zalgiris Kaunas renews the contract of one of its stars. The Lithuanian team, which lost 3-1 to Fenerbahçe in the Euroleague playoffs, extends the contract of Azuolas Tubelis, its prized young player.
The 24-year-old EuroLeague rookie has signed a 2+1 contract with the Lithuanian club. The contract, as reported by Zalgiris, has two guaranteed years and an opt-out clause in the third.
The former University of Arizona player had a great season with Zalgiris after last summer’s EuroBasket. He averaged 12.1 points and 4.5 rebounds for Masiulis’ team, which finished 5th in the regular season.
Zalgiris shares Tubelis’ words after announcing his renewal: “I am very happy with the extended contract. “Žalgiris” provides me with all the conditions – the arena and all the services are at the highest level. Everything is given, you have to go and work on the court, and I think I did quite well this year. Many people were satisfied with my performance, so I can’t wait to stay for a couple more years with confidence,” he said.
