According to Eurohoops sources, Xevi Pujol is the frontrunner to take over as sporting director at Barça, replacing Juan Carlos Navarro. The best player in the club’s history has not been successful as general manager, and after several years without a title, his time as the top executive of Barça basketball is numbered. The position of Mario Bruno Fernández, the current sporting director, is also in jeopardy, but a reassignment is currently being considered.
Xevi Pujol is currently the technical secretary of Kosner Baskonia, but the turbulent situation at the Vitoria-based club could be a key factor in his departure. After a brilliant stint at BAXI Manresa, the 36-year-old prodigy made the leap to the big leagues with Kosner Baskonia, but has become embroiled in the internal strife plaguing the team, which is chaired by Josean Querejeta.
