Olympiacos took the first step towards the Finals of Stoiximan GBL, as they defeated AEK 94-77 in the packed SEF.

Sasha Vezenkov played for only 20 minutes, scoring 13 points and also having 3 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. After the game, the 30-year-old forward spoke highly on ERT about Alec Peters, who was praised by the team’s fans, and among other things, he emphasized that all players on the roster are united.

Vezenkov said to ERT that the celebrations are over, and that they need to focus on the Greek League, since they have hungry opponent.

“For the fans, it was a party, and we are now getting out of this mood, but the last taste is the sweetest. All celebrations are over. We face a very hungry opponent ready for battle, and we must be at 100%. Both PAOK and AEK and Aris are taking steps forward, they will invest more in the championship, and the level is rising. We all have a share of responsibility to keep toxicity out of sports, as I heard Papapetrou say.”

Vezenkov spoke about Alec Peters, the hero of the Final Four. He stated that there is no competition between them, that Alec is great and has put his ego aside for the team, and that he deserves to go and play 30 minutes somewhere.

One of those interested in acquiring Peters is Olimpia Milano.

“He is an incredible professional; if he chooses to leave, he deserves the best. It’s something unique what’s happening because usually, there’s competition when you play in the same position. We are both very competitive. Alec deserves more minutes; we could play together. Putting your ego below the team and becoming a star in your role is tremendous, and he has been doing it for years. He deserves to go to a team and play 30 minutes; we will love him.”

Once again, Sasha added that he wishes Peters all the best and that the American power forward is an amazing professional.

The fans showed it too, chanting Peters’ name during the game and urging him to stay.

“We love him and want him with us; we’ve never seen him angry; he’s a complete professional. He can start on any EuroLeague team and play 30 minutes; he deserves it. I wish him the best. Everyone has self-awareness, you have a family, and no matter what they tell you, deep down, you know what you want to do. It’s not an easy decision, but I wish these were the problems.”

A member of the Bulgarian national team also talked about the unity within the team.

“This year, we are more than a team; we all genuinely care about each other. Some of us played more and received awards, but also players who deserved to play more accepted their roles. We have the last goal, and for both teams, it might be the most important. We will give everything and hope for the title. I believe in work, dedication, and faith in what you do. I don’t know if we deserved it more this year. Every year we are consistent, the team changes, we grow older, and I don’t know if we will be the same. I am happy that together we won the EuroLeague.”

He expressed his feelings after winning the EuroLeague trophy.

“What we experienced was something unparalleled, but now we have a big goal, and everyone will give 100%. The joys and celebrations are over.”
