Zeljko Obradovic has forcefully shut down growing speculation linking him to FC Barcelona.
Speaking to Gigantes del Basket, the nine-time EuroLeague champion made it clear that he will not be rushed into a decision regarding his future. Currently on a sabbatical, the legendary play-caller emphasized that he remains distanced from any sort of connection and has not held any formal talks with the Catalonian powerhouse, even as several EuroLeague teams are widely expected to present him with lucrative offers this summer.
“I can’t say anything because it’s something that doesn’t concern me,” the Cacak native stated firmly.
“There are rumors, but I won’t make a final decision until the end of the month,” he added, dismissing ongoing media noise. “Barca hasn’t spoken to me. Nobody, really, because I’m completely out of the loop. I don’t know what I’ll do yet.”
Obradovic insisted that he needs time before potentially committing to any project, preferring to wait until the domestic leagues around Europe officially wrap up over the next few weeks.
“I haven’t even said I want to return to coaching,” he clarified. “I haven’t said anything. I have to think things through and reflect on everything.”
Claiming nine EuroLeague titles across five different clubs, with his first back in 1992, the veteran tactician has cemented an unmatched legacy.
Nevertheless, Barcelona is officially in the market for a new leadership figure following the confirmed departure of Xavi Pascual at the end of the 2025-26 season, following the ongoing Liga Endesa Playoffs 2026.
