Pablo Laso could remain at Anadolu Efes next season despite growing expectations that the Spanish coach would leave the Turkish club this summer.

Following a disappointing campaign that ended with a semifinal exit in the Turkish League playoffs, Efes was reportedly preparing to part ways with Laso and appoint Luca Banchi as his successor. However, those plans have now been thrown into doubt.

According to report from SUR, Banchi is expected to stay in Italy due to a serious family matter, forcing Efes to reconsider its coaching situation. As a result, Laso, who still has one year remaining on his contract, could now stay in Istanbul for the 2026-27 season.

The development could also have significant consequences for Unicaja.

Laso had emerged as one of the leading candidates to replace Ibon Navarro, whose departure is officially confirmed. With Efes now reluctant to let the veteran coach leave, Unicaja may be forced to explore alternative options for its bench.
