Carsen Edwards has signed a 1+1 deal with Zalgiris, the EuroLeague outfit announced on Monday.

Among the top remaining options in the EuroLeague’s free-agent market, the 28-year-old guard took his talents to Kaunas.

Per the press release: “Zalgiris Kaunas will welcome 28-year-old guard Carsen Edwards next season, adding a player with four years of EuroLeague experience and a background in the NBA. The 180 cm American has signed a “1+1” contract with the club through the 2027-28 season.

Last season, Edwards played for Virtus Bologna, where he averaged 17.3 points and 2.3 assists per game.

Before that, the American spent two seasons with Bayern Munich, and in the 2024-25 season he was the EuroLeague’s top scorer with an average of 20.4 points per game and was named among the league’s top five players.

In the 2022-23 season, Edwards began his European career with Fenerbahce Istanbul. Prior to that, he spent three seasons, with stints in the G League, in the NBA, where he played for the Boston Celtics and Detroit Pistons, appearing in a total of 75 games and averaging 3.7 points.

Zalgiris sports director Gediminas Navickas shared his thoughts on Edwards’ arrival in Kaunas.

“Our internal discussions started when we found out that Sylvain Francisco might leave. Naturally, we had been aware of such a possibility for a long time, so we began talking about the entire guard line, understanding that we wouldn’t be able to replace Francisco with just one player. We discussed and structured the guard rotation, then identified the profiles of the two players we wanted to bring in as replacements. We used a lot of analytics, looked at how Edwards would fit with the players we already have or those we potentially want in our team. We concluded that his profile suits us, so we’re very happy that we managed to sign him,” said Navickas.”
