Maxi Kleber is evaluating a significant career transition for the upcoming 2026–27 campaign. As a 34-year-old unrestricted free agent in the NBA, the versatile big is currently exploring his options.

A potential overseas move was recently reported by BasketNews, signaling that the defensive specialist may soon conclude his extensive run in North America to return to the EuroLeague, nearly a decade after his last appearance with FC Bayern Munich.

Before entering the NBA spotlight, the German forward built a stellar foundation across several notable clubs in the Old Continent. His professional path initiated with s.Oliver Wurzburg, developing the raw tools that eventually caught international attention. Seeking broader competition, he transitioned to Spain to compete for Rio Natura Monbus Obradoiro in the prestigious Liga Endesa. This successful stint paved the way for a high-profile signing with Bayern, where his perimeter spacing and stellar rim protection earned him All-EuroCup Second Team honors and cemented his reputation as an elite European prospect. Beyond his club commitments, he also debuted with the German senior national team in 2014.

This success translated into a nine-year tenure in the NBA. Going entirely undrafted, he joined the Dallas Mavericks and transformed into an irreplaceable rotational anchor, keying multiple postseason runs that culminated in a memorable Finals appearance in 2024. His multi-positional switching and lethal pick-and-pop shooting provided crucial tactical flexibility for his teammates. After nearly eight years in Texas, the longtime veteran switched to the Los Angeles Lakers, battling persistent physical injuries before entering the current market ready to embark on this new chapter.
