Olympiacos head coach Georgios Bartzokas spoke during the presentation of the club’s new partnership with Superbet, which also featured the unveiling of new signing Jean Montero and the team’s new away jersey.

The veteran coach addressed his contract extension through 2029, Olympiacos’ transfer activity, and the growing competition across the EuroLeague.

Asked whether success alone is enough to attract sponsors, Bartzokas highlighted the club’s values.

From what I heard today, this partnership actually came before our sporting success this season, so that clearly wasn’t the main reason. SUPERBET appreciated the way Olympiacos operates, the principles of the organization and, of course, our huge fan base. But I believe Olympiacos is an example of how a sports organization should function in Greece. We don’t make extravagant statements, we always stay humble, we stay measured, and we set realistic short-term goals rather than distant promises. In the end, that approach allows us to achieve things we might not even have dreamed of.”

Bartzokas also commented on reports that Jean Montero wanted to know whether he would remain Olympiacos’ head coach before deciding to join the club.

That may simply have been a coincidence. There are players who don’t like the way Olympiacos plays and prefer teams where they have complete freedom. We believe we give our players freedom, but within certain rules. The two players we’ve signed this summer, McIntyre and Montero, believe this environment will help them improve individually while also competing for team success. They are both excellent players, but they are joining the reigning EuroLeague champions, which is important for them as well.”

When asked whether Olympiacos fans can expect a quiet summer, Bartzokas stressed that winning the offseason does not guarantee success during the season.

Summer success and season success are two completely different things. Everyone is trying to improve. Right now, we’re seeing incredible transfers across the EuroLeague. Teams like ASVEL have suddenly built a huge budget, Dubai has disrupted the market by offering enormous contracts, and Panathinaikos is doing the same. The competition will be even stronger.

But success isn’t determined only by who you sign in the summer. It’s about how those players fit together, how everyone accepts their role, and how united the team remains during the difficult moments of the season.”

Bartzokas also reflected on extending his contract with Olympiacos until 2029.

I’ve said before that Olympiacos is the best club in the world for me, and I truly mean it. Continuing at the club I love and where I feel so comfortable is very important to me. But what matters most isn’t how I feel—it’s how the presidents, Panagiotis and Giorgos Angelopoulos, and everyone at Olympiacos feel about the program we’ve built together. If they’re happy, then I’m happy too.”
