Milan near a deal with Garrison Mathews, extends Ousmane Diop

Garrison Mathews is near a deal with Olimpia Milan per Eurohoops sources.

The 29-year-old sharp shooter after seven seasons in the NBA with a career average of 38% in threes seems to be ready to continue his career in Europe after playing for the Pacers, the Hawks, the Rockets and the Wizards.

To be exact, he was cut last December by the Hawks and he is a free agent since then.

Despite being undrafted, Mathews played for a total of 329 games in the NBA, including 65 as a starter.

Meanwhile, the Italian club announced the extension of Ousmane Diop’s contract.

Per the press release: Olimpia Milano has reached an agreement for a multi-year contract extension with Ousmane Diop. “Staying at Olimpia was what I wanted and have always desired. I’m extremely happy and ready to give everything I have to continue making the great history of this club,” said Diop.

Ousmane Diop, a 2.04m center born in Rufisque, Senegal, on February 19, 2000, came to Olimpia in July of 2024 from Dinamo Sassari. In his first two years in Milan, he won the Italian Supercup twice, the 2026 Italian Cup, and the 2026 Italian league championship. During the 2026 playoffs, he averaged 7.5 points per game and shot 81.3 percent from two. In the championship series, he averaged 9.5 points per game on 81.2 percent two-point shooting, 80.0 percent from the free-throw line and grabbed 5.0 rebounds per game finishing over 15.0 in personal rating.
