Panathinaikos announced the return of coach Mike Batiste

It was already announced on social media, but now it’s officially official.

Mike Batiste is leaving the Toronto Raptors for the bench of Panathinaikos as an assistant to his former coach, Zeljko Obradovic.

Per the press release: Panathinaikos BC AKTOR is pleased to announce the return of Mike Batiste to his home, alongside Zeljko Obradovic.

The longest-serving foreign player in the history of our Club returns to where he made history, taking on the role of assistant coach after signing a three-year contract.

Beloved by every Panathinaikos fan, Mike wrote a golden chapter in the Club’s history during his ten seasons (2003-2012 and 2013-2014) wearing the green jersey, winning 19 titles (3 EuroLeague championships, 9 Greek Championships and 7 Greek Cups).

Following his retirement from professional basketball in 2014, he embarked on a coaching career in the NBA that spanned 12 years, beginning as an assistant coach with the Cleveland Cavaliers’ G League affiliate. He then served as a player development assistant with the Brooklyn Nets before working as an assistant coach with the Charlotte Hornets, Orlando Magic, Washington Wizards and Houston Rockets. Since 2023, he has been a member of the coaching staff of the Toronto Raptors.
