Matt Costello has officially parted ways with Valencia Basket after the expiration of his contract, bringing an end to a successful two-year spell with the Spanish club.

The American power forward, who also holds an Ivorian passport, played an important role during his time in Valencia, helping the club capture the Liga Endesa title and the Endesa Super Cup.

In the 2025-26 season, Costello appeared in 82 games, averaging 6.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and shooting 34.4% from three-point range while posting an efficiency rating of 8.

According to Mundo Deportivo, and other Spanish outlets, Costello has already found his next destination. The 31-year-old will continue his career with Japan’s Chiba Jets, where he is set to reunite with Adrián Kovács, who served as an assistant coach during their two seasons together at Valencia and will now take over as the Japanese club’s head coach.
