The wait is over. Guerschon Yabusele landed in Athens this Thursday, which will be his home for the next few years.

He was greeted at the airport by fans, who will later give him a proper welcome, as well as journalists who had questions ready for Yabusele.

To start, Guerschon expressed how he feels about joining PAO.

“Excited to be here, excited to meet this new team, new fans, and to come back to the EuroLeague. I’m just glad to be here.”

He also highlighted how much it means to him to work with Zeljko Obradovic.

“He is a great coach. Everybody knows what he’s done for basketball. I can’t wait to play for him and am looking forward to having great years.”

Yabusele also spoke about his motivation and reasons for returning to Europe.

“Lots of motivation. Of course, the goal of the team, what they try to achieve, playing with Mathias and Moustapha plays a big part. Of course, fans texting me every day to come to Panathinaikos played a little part in it.”

The inevitable question was about the fans, and Guerschon spoke highly of them.

“I’m really happy to meet them. I remember playing against them at the Final Four when I was in Madrid. I know that the fans are going to show up every night. Being part of that is very big for me, so I can’t wait to be there.”

He added that he can’t wait to play against Evan Fournier, his national team teammate, who plays for Olympiacos.

“Evan Fournier is my guy, no hate, just all love. I can’t wait to play against him, because he is like me; he loves competition. So, of course, playing against him is going to be special, and I wish him all the best.”
