Following rumors about his next team, Trent Frazier has officially taken the next major step in his European career by signing with Italian powerhouse Virtus Bologna. The one-year deal was announced on Wednesday.
The dynamic guard moves to the EuroLeague and Italyβs LBA UnipolSai after mutually terminating his contract with Zenit, where he spent nearly four seasons establishing himself as a standout star in the VTB United League. Known for his high-scoring ability and exceptional playmaking, the 1.88-meter Florida native brings a wealth of high-level experience to his new side.
During his successful tenure with the team based in Saint Petersburg, Frazier made 185 appearances in the VTB United League and proved to be an elite competitor. He averaged 13.1 points, 4.4 assists, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game overall, which included a strong 2025β26 campaign where he poured in 12.7 points per contest. His time in Russia was highly decorated, as he captured the VTB Super Cup, the Russian Cup, and multiple Most Valuable Player honors, including in the VTB All-Star Game last February.

His journey to Vu Nere and the top-tier continental competition began after a stellar five-year NCAA career with Illinois from 2017 to 2022. Over 157 collegiate games, he averaged 11.4 points, 2.9 assists, and 2.4 rebounds, playing a vital role in rebuilding the Fighting Illini while earning All-Big Ten accolades and two selections to the Big Ten All-Defensive Team. He launched his professional career in Serbia with FMP Meridian for the 2022β23 season, instantly making waves in the Qualification Rounds of the Basketball Champions League and the AdmiralBet ABA League with explosive performances.
