Zalgiris Kaunas has completed its frontcourt by signing Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu to a one-year contract with an option for another season.
The 26-year-old center joined Cedevita Olimpija earlier this summer but used the EuroLeague exit clause in his contract to move to Kaunas.
“He has completely different qualities from our other big men,” Zalgiris sporting director Gediminas Navickas said. “We also know how difficult the market becomes during the season. Nobody releases good players, and we do not want bad ones either, so we decided to make this investment before the season.”
Akobundu-Ehiogu spent last season with Manresa, averaging 4.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and a EuroCup-leading 1.6 blocks in 13 minutes per game.
He also represented the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Summer League, posting 6.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks across five appearances.
