Hapoel Tel Aviv announced this Monday that everything is finalized regarding the signing of Tamir Blatt, who is the team’s new addition this summer.
Blatt will thus remain in Israel, having signed a three-year contract with the team led by Dimitris Itoudis.
A similar transfer was already seen this summer when Yam Madar went in the opposite direction – instead of Hapoel, he will play for Maccabi in the future.
Per press release: “Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv Basketball Club is pleased to announce the signing of Tamir Blatt on a three-season contract, until the end of the 2028/29 season.
Blatt (29, 1.78 m) returns to Hapoel for a second stint, after starting his Premier League journey in the red uniform. Last season, he played for Maccabi Tel Aviv, where he averaged 6.8 points, 4.6 assists, and 1.9 rebounds per game in the EuroLeague. Additionally, he shot 36.5% from beyond the arc and 46.7% for two-point shots.
He began his professional career at Hapoel, while also playing for A.S. Ramat Hasharon under a dual registration. He then moved to Hapoel Holon, continued for three seasons in Jerusalem, embarked on his first overseas career by signing with Alba Berlin in Germany, with whom he won the German Championship and the German Cup, and in the summer of 2023, he joined Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Beyond his titles in Germany, the point guard won the Israeli State Championship twice and the State Cup five times. Last season, he averaged 9.6 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in the Premier League, shooting 40.7% for two-point shots and 39.3% for three-pointers.”
