Barcelona signed former Monaco big man Yoan Makoundou to a two-year deal.
Per the press release: “Barcelona and French player Yoan Makoundou have agreed a contractual bond that will unite them until June 30, 2028. The Palau audience will be able to enjoy, for at least two seasons, the 26-year-old and 2.07-meter-tall midfielder, who arrives from AS Monaco to bring energy and athletic ability to both sides of the court.
Makoundou is an international with the French national team and trained at Cholet Basket before signing with AS Monaco in the 2022/23 season. He has also played on loan at Buducnost Podgorica, Turk Telekom Ankara and a brief period with the Fujian Sturgeons, of the Chinese league, thus combining international experience with participation in the Euroleague, Eurocup and Basketball Champions League.
Born in Melun, southeast of Paris, on August 9, 2000, Yoan Makoundou will arrive in Barcelona to bring versatility to the Barça interior game. He is a versatile player, easily adapting to different positions, with a lot of energy and athletic ability. A profile both physical and basketball, which, due to his youth, can continue to grow and become an important piece, present and future, under the orders of Aleksander Sekulic.”
