Zalgiris has locked down their point guard for the long haul. The club confirmed that Nigel Williams-Goss has agreed to a contract extension through the 2028–29 season.
Management shared the news at their annual preseason press conference ahead of the 2026-27 EuroLeague Regular Season, revealing that the playmaker’s deal had already been updated.
“We did make changes to the contract, and that has already happened,” said sports director Gediminas Navickas, while revealing Panathinaikos Aktor’s interest in the former Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champion with Real Madrid during the offseason. “I can’t say there were major changes, which is why we didn’t make a big announcement about it. The discussions took place, and the agreement has been formalized.”
The Kaunas outfit originally brought Williams-Goss in on a 2+1 deal before the 2025–26 season. The 32-year-old delivered right away, averaging 11.5 points, 3.9 assists, 2.4 rebounds, and 0.9 steals to help push the Lithuanian side into the EuroLeague Playoffs. The extension allows the veteran of 11 NBA games with the Utah Jazz to increase his career total to 183 EuroLeague appearances.
Securing their star guard fits right into their next financial step. During Tuesday’s budget presentation, club president Paulius Jankunas and Navickas unveiled a budget of €28.8 million before taxes. Out of that total, €19.7 million goes straight to player and staff salaries, marking a significant bump in spending power compared to previous seasons. To fund the campaign, the front office projects bringing in €26.8 million in revenue before the postseason begins.
