Marcio Santos has signed a two-year contract with Kosner Baskonia.
The EuroLeague outfit announced his addition on Tuesday, securing the 2.04-meter Brazilian frontcourt player until 2028.
Initially, the 23-year-old forward-center was expected to join Louisiana State for the 2026–27 NCAA season after his agent confirmed a commitment to the Tigers. Instead, he chose a direct return to Europe’s premier club competition.
Santos made his EuroLeague debut last season with Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv. Over 37 appearances, including four starts, he averaged 6.9 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per contest.
Before his time in Israel, he made his first move overseas with ratiopharm Ulm in the BKT EuroCup and Germany’s easyCredit BBL. His professional career began at home with Sesi Franca, where he developed while capturing FIBA Intercontinental Cup and Basketball Champions League Americas titles in 2023. On the international stage, he has been a regular for the senior Brazil team in recent years.
Baskonia needed depth in the paint following Alex Len’s recent departure. Santos fills that void, joining a roster under coach Paolo Galbiati that features Damion Baugh, Chris Duarte, Kenneth Faried, Clement Frisch, Markus Howard, Stefan Joksimovic, Rodions Kurucs, A.J. Lawson, Tadas Sedekerskis, Kobi Simmons, Matteo Spagnolo, and D.J. Stewart Jr.
The reinforcement arrives just in time. Currently 0-1 in the 2026–27 EuroLeague Regular Season, the Vitoria-Gasteiz squad faces a demanding double-game week. They travel to face Valencia at Roig Arena later Tuesday, then return to Fernando Buesa Arena on Friday to host Armani Olimpia Milan.
