Euroleague Basketball has renewed its collective agreement with the Union of Euroleague Basketball Officials (UEBO) through the end of the 2028-29 season, the organisation announced in an official statement.
The agreement was signed at Euroleague Basketball’s headquarters by CEO Chus Bueno and UEBO president Sreten Radovic. UEBO board member Seffi Shemesh also attended the meeting alongside representatives of the organisation.
According to the statement, the renewed deal sets out working conditions and mutual commitments for referees across the EuroLeague and EuroCup, while supporting improvements in officiating and the use of new technology.
“Referees are a fundamental part of the Euroleague Basketball ecosystem, and our relationship with UEBO is essential to ensuring that officiating continues to evolve alongside our competitions,” Bueno said.
“This renewed agreement reflects our commitment to maintaining an open and constructive dialogue with our officials and to providing them with the professional framework, resources and technology they need to perform at the highest level.”
Radovic highlighted the stability provided by the agreement and the scope for further cooperation.
“The renewal of this agreement is an important step in the continued development of the relationship between UEBO and Euroleague Basketball,” he said.
“It provides stability and a clear framework for our officials while allowing us to continue working together on the evolution of officiating, working conditions and the tools available to referees. We appreciate the constructive dialogue that has accompanied the negotiations and look forward to continuing this collaboration.”
The first collective agreement between Euroleague Basketball and UEBO was signed in 2019 and renewed in 2023. It has since covered officials’ working conditions, improvements to officiating processes and the introduction of tools to support referees.
Euroleague Basketball said the renewal builds on its existing framework agreement with the EuroLeague Players Association (ELPA) and the recently signed agreement with the EuroLeague Head Coaches Board (EHCB), strengthening cooperation with players, coaches and officials.
