Shane Larkin: “By no means is this a step back”

Shane Larkin made a huge jump from the NBA to Euroleague by joining Laboral Kutxa. He explains the reasons behind this decision clearly:

In a lot of ways it is positive for me. I had a good season in the league this year for a back up guard. You compare mine across the board to the other back ups who got big deals and I’m younger and about right where they are in terms of numbers.

I showed somewhat of the potential I showed that got me drafted 18th overall. I’ve been in a roller coaster since I got in the league and playing for 4 different coaches in 3 years is tough. Feels like you can’t really grow to be who you are supposed to be if you keep jumping around but it is part of the business.

This is by no means a step back in my eyes. I’m playing against NBA caliber players on any given night and working on my game while being a starter. I feel like in a lot of ways I might progress more this year overseas than I did in my first 3 years in the [NBA] league.
