Dogus in talks with Fenerbahce for a sponsorship deal

As “El Mundo Deportivo” reports Dogus is interested in having a deal with Fenerbahce. Eurohoops sources confirm that those talks are ongoing during the last month and there are more serious than ever, while EuroLeague also is informed about the intentions of Dogus, which is one of the main sponsors of the competition.

Ferit Sahenk, the head of Dogus Group, is an avid Fenerbahce fan and also the owner of Garanti Bank, which in the past has been one of the main sponsors of Fenerbahce. If the deal comes through, then Fenerbahce may emerge as the richest EuroLeague team with the biggest portion of the budget being offered from Dogus and not from the total revenues of the club, which includes many other sport sections and football has the lion’s share.

In that case, it’s expected that coach David Blatt will not stay on the bench of Darussafaka – which may end up playing in the Eurocup without having this season’s budget – and the same may happen with many members of the current roster. It has to be mentioned that in the past, specially when Ulker left Fenerbahce, the possibility of Dogus supporting financially the team as a name sponsor was also reported, but in the end the solution that was found was for Garanti Bank to support the team.
