Laso: “I don’t think we can make Shved take few shots”

Among the most difficult missions that Real Madrid has to undertake in tomorrow’s (12/1) EuroLeague game against Khimki Moscow in Russia, is “handcuffing” Alexey Shved.

Shved is the leading scorer in EuroLeague, averaging 21.9 points per game. He also takes more attempts than any other player, with 17.8 per game, while shooting with 39.8%. And Real Madrid coach Pablo Laso thinks it will be more than a challenge to contain his action.

I don’t think we can make Shved take few shots,” Laso said during the pre-game presser. It will be a team effort to work on him. But their strength is on what Shved generates.”

The Russian superstar also initiates offense by dishing 4.4 assists per game but it’s not only about him. Laso says it’ll be tricky facing Khimki due to the lineups they use and their athleticism.

“Without Tomas Robinson, they have lost a player with an important role but they are covering it with Tyler Honeycutt. They play with a small-ball team but they are very athletic.”
