Moral-boosting victory for Olimpia Milano against Unicaja

AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milan prevailed over Unicaja Malaga 101-87  in Day 18 of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.

With this win, the Italians improve to a 5-13 record, while Unicaja falls to 7-11.

The key: Jordan Theodore gave the hosts a much needed boost with 2 minutes left in the game and a pair of free throws by Vladimir Micov sealed the deal for the Italian team.

The game: Milano stepped up with an early 14-6 lead at 4′ with Goudelock taking charge. Nemanja Nedovic reduced the deficit with a three-pointer, yet the hosts were leading the course with 31-22 after the first period.

Unicaja was back on track in the second period, yet the Italians kept their double-digit lead midway through it (44-34). Just before halftime Ray McCallum was successful from the three-point line, place Unicaja just 6 points behind, 50-44.

The Spanish side covered some ground in the third period, yet Jeff Brooks gave the team a breather from the arch (66-62, 36′). A little before the end of the quarter, Amath M’Baye hit a three-pointer to help the hosts keep a 79-71 advantage after 30′.

The star: Andrew Goudelock led the winning side with 18 points.

Not enough: Nemanja Nedovic had a 22-point performance along with six rebounds.
