Giannis Bourousis said that if his team, the Chinese Zhejiang Lions, were out of the CBA playoffs, he would return to the roster of the Panathinaikos.

Bourousis explained to Greek Sport-FM radio: “I have a contract for next season in China, in which there’s an opt-out clause which I can use. However, I believe that I will stay in China. If our season ended in February, I had the green light to play for a EuroLeague team. So if that was the case, I would have returned to Panathinaikos or to a Spanish team. There’s an open door for at Panathinaikos since last season”.

Bourousis also spoke about the infamous bus incident of Panathinaikos. “I think that a played a crucial role in the team at this point. We could easily lose the final against Olympiacos, they seemed to be the better team, but we did it. Of course, coach Pascual also deserves a lot of credit for keeping the team together”.

Bourousis will play for the Greek national team in the upcoming FIBA World Cup qualification games and also spoke about recently waived George Papagiannis. As the veteran center explained: “He has to push all pressure away. He should devote himself to basketball and find the right opportunity, a team which will give him minutes and a role in the rotation. If you don’t get to play, you don’t get better”.
