Olympiacos recorded their second straight win in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague over Valencia at home. The Greek coach Ioannis Sfairopoulos pointed out that defense led them to another win.

This was a very important win for us. We played against a good offensive team and except for the second period, we controlled the game with our good defense“, said Sfairopoulos who was also satisfied with the way his team’s offensive game as well.

We had stability in all periods in offense and that was an important thing. I think our defense was the key, especially in the end. We found the best way to attack and to score easy points“, finished the head coach of the Greek side.

Despite the loss, Spanish coach Txus Vidorreta thinks his team played a good game tonight. “We did a great job to stay close enough until the Spanoulis showed up.We were better than other teams that played here the last couple of week, but it wasn’t enough tonight“, said Vidorreta.

However, he wasn’t satisfied the way his team started the game. “We didn’t play hard, we didn’t play defense, we didn’t stop their easy points with fouls. With that start, they had a great advantage. We made a good job in the second quarter to come back to the game. We also started better the second half. We needed to stay close and we scored open shots and easy layups. We were close with two minutes left in the game, but the refs gave two so-so calls“, the Spaniard added.

Still, the captain of Olympiacos scored seven points in a row when the game was on the line and Vidorreta was completely aware of it.”In the end, it was Vassilis Spanoulis who decided the game. Everyone knows what kind of player he is”,  concluded Valencia’s coach.
