Olympiacos extends two-year offer to David Blatt

Olympiacos has extended a two-year offer sheet to coach David Blatt, according to Eurohoops sources.

The Reds had previously been in contract with Blatt, but had yet to make an official proposal. Now, the management of the Greek club offered a two-year contract to the American-Israeli coach, with a deal that is quite close to his demands.

Olympiacos has been searching for an experienced coach to take the helm of the team after they decided to not continue with Giannis Sfairopoulos, and Blatt has been one of the club’s main targets.

Blatt was on the radar of various NBA teams with vacant head coach positions, but it seems he won’t return to the league next season. The next best possible choice for Blatt is to once again coach in EuroLeague (which he won in 2014 with Maccabi Tel Aviv) with a potential title contender, such as Olympiacos.

In the previous season, Blatt led Darussafaka Istanbul to the EuroCup title, the first European trophy in the history of the franchise.
