Giannis Bourousis aims for EuroLeague return next season

Former All-EuroLeague center Giannis Bourousis said that he is aiming at a possible return to Europe next season in order to play in the top-tier competition once more.

“I definitely look to EuroLeague in order to play in Europe,” Bourousis said in an interview with Greek national television. “I believe I can handle one more season. I didn’t renew in China. There are offers but it’s my decision whether I return or not.”

Bourousis, 35, clarified that he’s not interested to play for any European team in the remainder of 2018-2019. “I can’t come here and play basketball for a month. I don’t risk it.”

“Last season Mr. Giannakopoulos wanted me to join Panathinaikos in April. I don’t risk it for a month. The Chinese League isn’t easy at all. I was tired,” Bourousis added.

Bourousis last played in EuroLeague in 2016-2017 with Panathinaikos averaging 7.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists over 18:35 minutes per game. The veteran Greek center, and former EuroLeague champion with Real Madrid had come off an All-EuroLeague First Team campaign with Baskonia in 2015-2016. Bourousis led the Basque side to the Final Four and finished the season with 14.5 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists. over 25:04.
