Following the game between the Dallas Mavericks and the New York Knicks at the Madison Square Garden, Luka Doncic was asked by Spanish outlet AS if he would ever join FC Barcelona. The former Real Madrid player made his intentions clear on his former team remaining his family, added that he understands the fans’ reaction to Nikola Mirotic.

“I would never join Barcelona, never. Madrid is my family” he replied to a question on him ever following in Mirotic’s forward footsteps. “I miss everything, especially my teammates” he added on the team he played for before making the jump to the NBA.

“I saw the second half” he replied on watching the EuroLeague Regular Season Round 8 “El Clasico”, “I woke up a little earlier to see the second half. I always want Madrid to win. I believe the team deserved this victory.”

The WiZink Center crowd booed Mirotic and Doncic thinks the reaction was to be expected. “I believe he knew it beforehand. It was normal” he mentioned, “He didn’t only play in Madrid, but was raised by Real Madrid.”

His 33-point, 11-assist, 10-rebound triple-double did not get the job done on Thursday evening. “I am glad that fans in Spain follow my games” he told reporters following the 2019-20 NBA Regular Season contest, “I feel a little Spanish.”

“The goal here is for the Mavericks to make the playoffs” said Doncic referring to his main NBA target, also confirmed he plans to suit up for Slovenia in the 2020 Olympic Qualifying Tournament, “I will play, so hopefully we will advance.”
