“Sweet tie” for Strasbourg

In a late-thriller in France, the match between Strasbourg and Nizhny Novgorod ended in a draw in double overtime (91-91), with the French team advancing to the semi-finals, thanks to a nine-point advantage in the aggregate score (176-185).

For Strasbourg, Kyle Weems was unstoppable, with 35 points and six rebounds, whereas Victor Rudd had 26 points and eight rebounds for the losing squad, as Rasid Mahalbasic added 20 points and ten boards.

In the beginning, the Russians took control of the game (8-14) and retained their lead until the end of the first quarter (16-24). Later, things didn’t change much (21-34) and the visitors closed the first half in front by 13 points (32-45).

In the second half, the hosts couldn’t respond and were down by 14 points at the end of the third quarter (50-64). In the fourth quarter, though, Strasbourg tried to make a come-back.

They went on a 10-3 run and cut the deficit to seven (60-67), managing to lead the match into overtime, as Nizhny earned a nine-point victory, at the end of the fourth quarter (65-74).

In overtime, nothing changed (77-86), so the match went into double overtime, with Strasbourg outscoring their opponents 14-5 to tie the game and qualify to the semi-finals.
