Bourousis: “I would go to any NBA team”

Giannis Bourousis is ready to cross the Atlantic in order to play in the NBA and he doesn’t care in which team he may end up! While speaking to the Sport24 Greek radio station, the MVP of the Spanish Liga Endesa was more than ready to speak about his future and also about the Greek national team.

As he said about his decision to play one more summer for the national team: “It’s a new beginning for the national team. We have many young players, but I feel good in my 32 years of age! The truth is that I wanted to retire from international play. However, I’ve reconsidered after some talks. It is not easy for the new players of the team to respond right away and we don’t need to load them with pressure”.

As for his future, he was more than honest: “Querejeta (ed.note: Baskonia’s president) wants me to stay with the team. He knows everything about basketball and he is really smart. The people there love me and appreciate me. The life in Vitoria is calm, like in my early age in Karditsa (ed.note: Bourousis’ home town, a rural city in Greece). I have to take the right decision. I don’t wait only for teams from Europe, but for something else to happn… I am not afraid and I want to try”.

So what he is waiting for? The answer is simple: “I would go to any NBA team. I just want to be there, after 14 years in Euroleague”. However he spoke also about his possible return to Greece, since any good Greek player is always on Panathinaikos and Olympiacos’ short list: “If I don’t return this summer, then I will never return. Maybe at the end of my career I would play for one season in a smaller club, outside Athens”.
