Panathinaikos met with Vougioukas and waits for Bourousis

With Mike James being near a deal with the Greens, Panathinaikos is also moving fast in order to complete its front line.

Coach Argiris Pedoulakis met with Greek center Ian Vougioukas and spoke about the role he is expected to have if he signs with the team. With Giorgos Papagiannis leaving for the NBA, Miroslav Raduljica not being part of coach Pedoulakis’ plans, Ognen Kuzmic already released before the end of the season and Vince Hunter being a free agent, Panathinaikos will need to sign three centers and Vougioukas is one of the primary targets.

Pedoulakis and Vougioukas have collaborated in the past at Rethimno, there’s mutual respect between the two sides, however the answer of the player depends also on the answer of Giannis Bourousis with the Greens. Panathinaikos have made an offer to the MVP of the Liga Endesa and he is the primary target of the team in the center position. Bourousis’ possible presence will define the rotation of the team and this is a factor in Vougioukas’ decision.
