Sito Alonso is the new coach of Laboral Kutxa

Sito Alonso will join Laboral Kutxa in the head coach position for two seasons, as the club officially announced. Alonso spent the previous two years of his career in Bilbao Basket and his contract ended this summer.

The 40–year–old Madrilenian coach was in talks with Baskonia for quite some time before the two sides reached their final agreement. Club president Josean Querejeta had expressed his wish to sign the coach many times.

Sito Alonso made his debut in ACB league in 2008 with Badalona, where he previously worked at as an assistant coach. He was fired in March 2010 after his bad results in the domestic and European competition. In 2011, he came back to the ACB with Lagun Aro GBC. In 2014 he left and signed with Bilbao Basket. Apart from these teams, in summer 2013, he was the head coach of the Spanish U20 team and he achieved the bronze medal in the European Championship in Tallinn. He was assistant coach to the Spanish national team in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
