Serbian coach Sasha Djordjevic knows that after the defeat by Australia things may get complicated in the quarter finals but he is not willing to tank games in order to chose an opponent.

As he said in the press conference after the game according to novosti.rs that he is not willing to calculate which result may make the road of his teams to the medals easier: “We will play to win. I do not care whether or not we will have to play 10 times against the US national team. My philosophy is that there will not be any calculations”.

For the game against Australia he added: “This was definitely a good lesson for us. We will analyze the game and correct our mistakes. It’s not our trademark  to give up so easy in the end. However the game is not played for 35 but for 40 minutes. Inexplicably to me we did not take advantage of the free throws bonus that we had. Australia played great, Mils and Delly have made the difference, pushing the ball like NBA champions”.

Djordjevic also justified the performance of Nikola Jokic who finished the game with 7 points and 3 rebounds: “The intensity of the Australia front line is great. Players like Andersen, Bogut and Baynes play hard. Jokic is young, this was a great experience for him and he’s a smart guy. We need more of him, apparently. This is normal, he learns quickly. He had a good qualifying tournament, but no one lives in the past. He proved something, but this is the past, he must continue”.
