Cantu got Dowdell and Pilepic, but not a Eurocup spot

Cantu is trying to make a splash in the summer market, has aquired two players today and has a strong interest in being part of the Eurocup. However, at this point nothing is certain and Cantu playing in Eurocup seems difficult.

The club announced today the additions of Zabian Dowdell (32, 1,92 m.) and Fran Pilepic (27, 1,93 m.) and it’s true that the Italians notified Euroleague about their ambition to join the Eurocup, which has three open spots after the decision of AEK, Partizan and Zielona Gora to play in the FIBA Champions League.

Considering the fact that there’s no Italian team currently in the competition, in theory Cantu makes an ideal candidate. Still with the Eurocup clubs deciding in the next days what will happen with the open spots, Cantu must wait at least until then. The fact remains that BC Volgograd which has the same owner, Dimitry Gerasimenko, with Cantu, will play in Eurocup.
