Iverson’s late Hall of Fame conference arrival and Shaq’s reaction

Allen Iverson was fashionably late (as in, 90 minutes) for his very own Hall of Fame induction press conference. His absence was later explained by the player himself as “family issues”.

O’Neal sat down with reporters and shook his head when he was asked the question that most attendants were asking:  Where’s Allen? As always, Shaq tried to make the best out of the uncomfortable situation.

“That’s crazy. I don’t know how you miss this,” O’Neal said, before summoning the ghost of Iverson’s infamous “practice” rant. “Hall of Fame? I’m a franchise player, you’re talking about the Hall of Fame?!?”

When Iverson finally arrived, he answered to many questions, even about his late appearance.

As for the finally wearing the Naismith orange jacket, he stated:

“I’m uncomfortable, but this is a jacket, when it comes to suits, I would always remember and cherish because of the significance of it. Little young guys can look at the obstacles that I had to go through to become a Hall of Famer and know that it’s not so bad. What makes me feel good is that all of the people that rooted for A.I. get a chance to say, ‘He did what you never thought he could do.’ This is a moment that me and my fans, and my family and friends, can share with each other, because we always believed in the dream.”
