Pekovic out for the season

Timberwolves’ owner Glen Taylor told Chad Hartman on WCCO radio that Nikola Pekovic will not play this season as he continues to rehab his foot, as Pioneer Press reports.

“That decision was made on Thursday”, Taylor said, adding that the Wolves still hope to see him at some point back on the court. Pekovic signed a five-year, $60 million deal in 2013 and is owed $12.1 million this season. “That just gives us a lot of time and it allows him to continue to rehab his foot and to see if it improves. It just has not come around as he anticipated, and we need him to play”, explained Taylor.

Pekovic is under contract until the 2017-18 season – the final year of his deal – when he’s owed $11.6 million.
