Erick Green saved Olympiacos in Lefkada

Well, stranger things have happened than a …. “Green” saving the “Reds”. Or not?

With 84 seconds to go in the game between Doxa Lefkadas and Olympiacos and the score 94 – 89, the local team was really close to what would have been the biggest victory in the history of the club. Yet Erick Green practically saved the guests from a huge upset, by nailing 6 unanswered points that wrote the final 94 – 95.

The American guard had only scored seven points in the first period, but rose to the occasion when his team craved for some life saving buckets. He first banged the shot for the 94 – 92 and then after failing efforts from both teams (and some hasty errors by Doxa), received the ball on the weak side to bury the game-winning three-pointer with one second to go.

Lefkada who produced an absolutely amazing display against a European powerhouse thanks to an unstoppable Dezmin Wells (27 points on 10/13 shooting!)  failed to respond in such a short time-frame.

Vassilis Spanoulis once again led Olympiacos in scoring (19 points) and creation (11 assists) registering a double-double.
