Barcelona survives thriller game against Brose Bamberg

Barcelona grabbed its second win for the season against Brose Bamberg with 78-74. The game marked Petteri Koponen’s return in action.

Right from early on, it was expected to be a very close game, as both teams were balanced at 19 points after 10 minutes. At 14′, the visitors managed to pull away with 22-26, with a 3pointer by Lo. Soon after, Causeur gave his team a 5 point lead and was the heart and soul of Brose’s offense. At halftime, Barcelona had a brief lead of 2 points, 40-38.

Things didn’t change much in the second period, as both teams were head to head, with none being able to pull away with a “safe” lead. During the third period, Nikos Zisis achieved a great milestone, reaching his 700th assist! After 30 minutes, the score was 59-57.

Barcelona pushed in defense in the final period, and Joey Dorsey was decisive for his team, keeping it alive in the final minutes of the game. Bamberg was down with 4 points, then Miller made it a 2 point game with 6 seconds left. A pair of free throws by Vezenkov sealed the win for the hosts.

For the winners, Tyrese Rice scored 18 points with 6 assists, Victor Claver added 13, Stratos Perperoglou and Ante Tomic contributed 11.

For Brose Bamberg, Fabien Causeur had a wonderful performance with 19 points and 5 rebounds.
