Bartzokas: “We need a player with a EU passport”

With Spanish portal “Gigantes” reporting that Barcelona is interested in Pablo Prigioni, coach Giorgos Bartzokas confirmed after the game against Brose Baskets only that his team is interested in a player who will have a EU passport.

As he said in the press conference: “We are looking for possible solution for our backcourt, however we need a guy with a European passport, because the non European spots in our roster are covered by Justin Doellman and Joey Dorsey. I am happy because we didn’t have an other injury today and Ante Tomic despite being hurt, has nothing serious. We have lost Pau Ribas probably for many months, so we need to have player. I have the greatest of respect for Euroleague CEO Jordi Bertomeu, but with so many games we are becoming like the NBA, without having the means of an NBA team. Here the pressure if different, every defeat is like a funeral. The game is getting away from the hands of coaches. You need to be a psychologist more than a coach, there’s no time to practice and get better, just to prepare mentally for each game”.

Despite being an Argentinian, the 39 years old Pablo Prigioni has also an Italian passport and the question is he wants to return to Europe. Here are the rest of the quotes after Barcelona’s game.
