Panathinaikos survives Aris, Olympiacos remains perfect

A classic derby took place in the finale of the 7th week of the Greek league. Panathinaikos beat Aris in Thessaloniki with 59-71.

In a game in which defense was the key factor, the Greens were leading for the most part, though Aris wouldn’t let the visitors expand. At halftime, the score was 28-36.

Aris kept following and was still down 45-51 at 30′. In the final period of the game, Panathinaikos grabbed a 12-point advantage which set the foundations to an important victory.

Chris Singleton led the winners with 14 points and 8 rebounds, KC Rivers contributed 13 points, Ioannis Bourousis reached a double double with 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Nikos Pappas added 10 more points.

For Aris, Will Cummings had 17 points and 8 rebounds.

With this win, Panathinaikos improved to 6-1, while in the other game of the evening, Olympiacos had an easy win at Lavrio and remained perfect in the standings.
